These are for firmware updates, but you would need a special programming device, which is not very straightforward to set up. The good news is that we're almost done with designing a new version with a USB-C firmware update and opensource code. Once you see it in our shop, get in touch, we'll sort out a generous discount for you for a new version.
You can also filter MIDI in Ableton, there are interesting converters there...
Thanks! It's nice to know that firmware updates are possible! I've fiddled with the firmware for my souped up Prophet 600 synth in the past, and it's fun! [ https://gligli.github.io/p600fw/ ]
I can filter MIDI and do some nonstandard things with TouchMe's MIDI using Mozaic on iOS, say, or even write online MDI synths like the ones you've pointed to. I can treat note-on/offs as events rather than notes, that push the synth from state to state in a graph of possibilities, but I'd like to get as close to some kind of real time version of reality as possible.
USB-C will be nice for my newer devices and of course the new European mandate against proprietary connectors.
I'll be watching for the update, but meanwhile I'll be surprising people by using the TouchMe connected to Bluetooth MIDI to get some noises out of seemingly unconnected devices.
@plantronica please do! We'd love to see a tutorial from you and publish it on our YouTube.
We are planning BLE MIDI too, but not this year probably. We've been really slowed down with this year's events.
I was pleased at how quickly my TouchMe arrived! I'm posting a lot here, but really, it only showed up yesterday!
I'm the designer/programming person behind AUMI (http://aumiapp.com) which in some ways has similar aims to TouchMe and your research.
@plantronica awesome, let's have a quick call; think of how we can collaborate!
Would love to listen to your ideas and feedback.
